Mini Make: Animal Hutch

I’m afraid I forgot to take in progress photos of this make today as I was too engrossed in the task and it was taking so long lol! So hopefully you’ll get the idea from me explaining it with the pics of it finished.

I started with an egg hutch, which is basically a little cupboard you are meant to keep on your kitchen counter for holding eggs in lol. It had two little shelves in it with holes in for the eggs to sit in. I’ve already adapted the inside in the picture below but hopefully it will give you an idea as to what the heck an egg hutch is if you haven’t come across them before lol!

The plan was to make it into an animal hutch and I finally finished today. Well. I’ve finished the basic adaptation but I still need to finish it off with some accessories and decoration etc. Anyway, its taken me a while as I can only use one hand due to my illness so all crafting takes a long time for me lol, but this took particular effort.

I used jumbo lolly (popsicle) sticks to make floor boards to cover the holes on the shelves inside the hutch. I cut them to fit, and shaped them on the top shelf to go around one of the holes so that I could put a ramp (again, made from one of the jumbo lolly sticks) down to the bottom floor. Its not the neatest job in the world but it does the job!

Brave stepped in to model to give you an idea of the size. As you can see, its suitable for chickens and guinea pigs πŸ˜‰ I need to make some “bedding” to go in there and accessories such as a food bowl and water bottle etc but for the basic adaptation, I am pretty pleased with it so far πŸ™‚ I am also going to add legs to it to make it a little taller. I’m sure I’ll post more pictures again when it is complete.

Some Size Comparisons

I thought I’d take a few size comparison photos today. They aren’t the greatest as I didnt have the space to fit everyone in this time and the dolls are all wearing clothes so you can’t see their bodies properly next to each other. However, I’ll take some more nude comparisons in a couple of months when I will have a new size to compare πŸ˜‰

I thought I’d start with my dolls that are around the 1/6 or YOSD size range. In the photo below we have (from left to right): 5StarDoll Aiden 5, Fairyland Littlefee, Fairyland Littlefee Baby, Fairyland Realfee and Pipos Cheshire.

I tried to add on my MSD boy but he is just too tall for me to fit on currently haha! Next time I do comparison shots, I will do it in a location where I can get far enough away with the camera to fit them all in. But he is a Doll Chateau Hugh and is taller and skinnier than your average MSD doll.

Next I added some of the smaller dolls onto the end of the YOSD size group. So carrying on from the Pipos Cheshire, we have an Elfdoll Edward, a Fairyland Pukipuki and a Small Comfort Baby.

Finally, I decided to do a little lineup of my BJD pets, although I am missing my BJD horse but he was a little too big to fit in these photos πŸ˜‰ So from left to right we have: 5cm EveStudios Cat, DaisyDayes Frankenweenie Puppy, DaisyDayes Border Terrier Puppy, DaisyDayes Bully Puppy, DaisyDayes HoundΒ Puppy, Iplehouse 4.5cm Pet Doll Beagle Puppy, and a DaisyDayes Chicken πŸ™‚

Christmas Portraits – Part 1

I took photos of all the dolls by the Christmas tree for some nice festive portraits. The lighting wasn’t great so they are a little grainy but they will have to do!

In these photos you will find the smaller dolls and the pets πŸ™‚

Odie (Realfee Pano)
Budo (Realfee Soso)
Gus (Pukipuki Piki)
Gulliver (Pipos Cheshire)
Nala (EveStudios Cat)
