Mini Make: Animal Hutch

I’m afraid I forgot to take in progress photos of this make today as I was too engrossed in the task and it was taking so long lol! So hopefully you’ll get the idea from me explaining it with the pics of it finished.

I started with an egg hutch, which is basically a little cupboard you are meant to keep on your kitchen counter for holding eggs in lol. It had two little shelves in it with holes in for the eggs to sit in. I’ve already adapted the inside in the picture below but hopefully it will give you an idea as to what the heck an egg hutch is if you haven’t come across them before lol!

The plan was to make it into an animal hutch and I finally finished today. Well. I’ve finished the basic adaptation but I still need to finish it off with some accessories and decoration etc. Anyway, its taken me a while as I can only use one hand due to my illness so all crafting takes a long time for me lol, but this took particular effort.

I used jumbo lolly (popsicle) sticks to make floor boards to cover the holes on the shelves inside the hutch. I cut them to fit, and shaped them on the top shelf to go around one of the holes so that I could put a ramp (again, made from one of the jumbo lolly sticks) down to the bottom floor. Its not the neatest job in the world but it does the job!

Brave stepped in to model to give you an idea of the size. As you can see, its suitable for chickens and guinea pigs 😉 I need to make some “bedding” to go in there and accessories such as a food bowl and water bottle etc but for the basic adaptation, I am pretty pleased with it so far 🙂 I am also going to add legs to it to make it a little taller. I’m sure I’ll post more pictures again when it is complete.

Fashion Friday – 27th May 2016

Emma requested to see Asa this week so her wish has been granted 🙂 I have to say I do find it harder to put interesting and different outfits together for the boys. They have a lot less clothes than my girls and boy clothes are always so standard. I’m hoping to get them some more interesting pieces soon though so hopefully then they can feature in Fashion Friday a little more often 🙂

Asa is a Fairyland Littlefee Shiwoo in natural skin with the default faceup. His wig is from Crobidoll and his eyes are from Mako.

His neckerchief has been featured in Fashion Friday before but I really do adore it. It is from Spampy Stuff, as is his dog print top. I am currently on the Spampy waiting list so I think I will definitely have to ask for another of the neckerchiefs when my turn comes up 🙂

Asa’s pants are from Crobidoll and are one of my favourite pairs I have for the boys (though the girls have worn them before too). I love the detail of the turn-ups and little pockets (decorative only) on the front and back. The only slight issue with them is they are tight at the bottom so you need to remove his feet to get them on. As you can see, he is wearing odd socks as I couldn’t find a matching pair, haha! They were both from icantdance 😉

His puppy pal is Maggie and she was made by DaisyDayes, and the piano is a baby toy that I picked up secondhand and is just perfect as a play piano for the dolls 🙂

If anyone has any requests as to who they would like to see in Fashion Friday next week, do let me know 🙂

Fashion Friday – 13th May 2016

I thought I’d change things up a bit for Fashion Friday this week and take the photos outside as it was such a beautiful day! I also painted a doll bench yesterday so it seemed like a good excuse to try it out in photos 🙂

Matilda is the model today. For those that don’t know, she is a Fairyland Littlefee Madeleine in tan skin with the default faceup. Her wig is the “Tyra” by Monique (which I purchased at Facets by Marcia) and she is wearing Mako eyes.

She is wearing quite a basic outfit component wise today but I just adore her little dress from icantdance. Its adorable enough on its own without needing to accessorize her too much. I’m afraid I do not remember the name of the shop that her tights came from but I do know that they are no longer trading. I have pretty similar ones from Spampy though. Her shoes were from SunnyBobo on Etsy but they no longer have a shop either which is a real shame as I would have got these in more colours.

Matilda’s puppy, Buddy, was made by DaisyDayes whom you can find on Flickr. You need to request to be her friend to see her photo stream and she does not take commissions. She usually posts a teaser photo on her stream when she is about to release some critters for sale and they go REALLY fast so you need to keep an eye out 😉 I picked up the bench from a car boot sale so I’m afraid I can’t tell you where it is from; and I just painted it with normal outdoor furniture paint.
