Petitcollin Minouche Joelle

As part of my mission to enjoy dolls more again this year, I have decided to expand my collection to other kinds of dolls rather than primarily focus on BJDs. I have been wanting to try out some different types of dolls for a long time and after a few sales on ebay, I was able to get some that I had been curious about.

The first is a Minouche doll from Petitcollin, designed by Sylvia Natterer. The dolls have simple yet beautiful painted faces and reminded me a little of Sasha dolls. They are much more limited in their posing abilities than a BJD as they have complete arms/legs but they can be moved at the shoulder etc and the head can be turned from side to side. One of the arms comes bent at an angle which I thought would annoy me but actually, its great as you can convey many more poses and emotion with it than if they had two straight arms.

The one I chose is called “Joelle” and she will probably keep it is a name. I mainly got her because I found her for a great price, but she was one of my top choices of the dolls available too so the good price was a welcome bonus.

She has light blonde hair and blue eyes, and came dressed in a pretty flora dress, a shrug cardigan, white socks and white shoes. She also has a body suit on underneath which was a lovely touch. I must admit her hair is a bit much for me at the back so I may need to try and restyle it at some point, but aside from that, she is just wonderful. I love her face, she is so photogenic. Her outfit is beautiful, and she is beautifully sculpted, especially her knees. She is also able to sit with her legs straight in front of her rather than out to the sides in the dreaded V shape that a lot of dolls are cursed with.

I am really thrilled to have added her to my collection and I would definitely like to add a boy in the same size in the future; as well as get some of the other sizes of the dolls available.

Box Opening: Little Cosmos Dolls “Oliver”

I had a special new arrival on Wednesday! I have been wanting to order a doll from Little Cosmos Dolls for a long time now and finally after selling a bunch of random stuff on Ebay, I was able to place an order! Luckily, Sandra (who makes the dolls) had some Oliver’s still in stock so I didn’t have to wait too long for him at all! I paid extra for her to give my boy a faceup before he came home so from order time to arrival, it was around 3 weeks. Another massive plus point besides the short wait time, is that Sandra is based in Spain so there were no horrible customs charges to pay 😀

The packaging for these dolls is fantastic ❤ Rather than a typical box, they come in these big sturdy cardboard tubes which I think is just fantastic (the tube was obviously inside a normal cardboard shipper). Really simple but really effective and different from normal boxes. On the outside of the tube is a sticker featuring a gorgeous drawing of “Oliver” and the company logo etc. It also tells you that these are “Extraterrestrial Dolls looking for Parents” which is one of the things that really drew me to these dolls; I just loved the concept.

Inside the tube, “Oliver” was wrapped up in bubble wrap and then a lovely blue & white spotty cushion, tied round him with twine. A little organza bag was attached which had an extra pair of clenched hands inside. The cushion also has a fabric label with the company logo on; and a paper tag with the “Oliver” artwork on it, his skin tone, what number doll he is (mine is 7), his release date, and is also signed by Sandra. It is all just really beautiful and detailed. You can tell a lot of love went into them.

So here is “Oliver”! We haven’t decided on a name yet but have a few in mind. They are cast by Haru Casting so of course, the quality is excellent. The skin tone is really nice and I am yet to to find any seam lines etc. He’s just really smooth and lovely ❤

Oliver is double jointed and poses really well but I will show you his capabilities properly in a seperate post soon. The faceup Sandra gave him is perfect and exactly what I asked for; a nice, sweet, gentle little boy. His ears and mouth are the cutest ❤ Anyway, I will share more pics of him soon, including some comparison photos with some of my others dolls but for now I hope you will enjoy the pics of him below (apologies for the nudity hehe) 🙂

Box Opening: Iplehouse Pet Doll – Bull Terrier

So as promised yesterday, here is part 2 of my Iplehouse Pet Doll box opening. I ordered two dogs from them; the Boston Terrier I introduced you to yesterday, and this gorgeous little guy ❤ He is a Bull Terrier and his name is Bodger (named after the Bull Terrier from The Incredible Journey).

He was packaged in the exact same way as the Boston Terrier so I won’t share box pics again. As with the Boston Terrier, I am super impressed with him. He poses wonderfully and his paint work is so detailed. I think he has the sweetest, most gentle little face ❤

He works well with Olive who is a large MSD (Dollstown Ganga on 7 years body), but I also think he works really well with the Littlefee. They look like young children next to a full size dog which works well for me. However, I don’t think Winnie (the Boston Terrier) works well with the Littlefee because Boston Terrier’s are meant to be small dogs but she looks too big next to them.  My original plan was for both dogs to belong to Olive but I think whilst Winnie most definitely does, Bodger may spend some of his time with the Littlefee as well. But we’ll see 😛 I’m sure I will photograph Winnie & Bodger together on their own a lot too.

Come back tomorrow for another post where I will show you the collars and toy I made for them 🙂
